Where a Patrol has two batteries, they must be replaced as a matched pair for the same reason as a Land Cruiser: parallel batteries equalise downward to the weaker unit. Patrols used off-road also need genuine vibration resistance, because corrugated sand tracks are far harder on internal plate structure than tarmac. Does my Nissan Patrol have one battery or two?
It depends on specification — many Patrols are fitted with two in parallel. Where there are two, both must be replaced together and matched, because a new battery paired with an old one is pulled down to the weaker unit's condition.
My Patrol is used in the desert. Does that affect the battery?
Significantly. Sustained vibration on corrugated tracks damages the internal plate structure, so an off-road Patrol often needs replacement earlier than its age would suggest. Vibration resistance is worth prioritising in the replacement.
I left my Nissan at the airport for three weeks and it will not start. Why?
